Commerical rocket launch pads are either extremely expensive, or flimsy and not sturdy enough, so I figured I would make my own. Almost all the rockets I make have been launched from this pad, except really big ones like my dual-deployment rocket, my two-stage Tomahawk rocket, or my two-stage piston rocket. Those require commercial rail launchers and special fields to launch.
The design is quite simple: I used pvc pipes and pvc glue to make the legs, an old pot lid to make the platform, a metal washer to protect the lid from the blast of rocket motors, and I cut a hole through the lid to allow a rail guide to fit in. The rail guide is necessary to give rockets a stable flight. This launch pad is really sturdy, can be folded up and transported easily, and it saved a lot of money!
